History
Barrday began operations in 1958 as a weaver of specialized filtration fabrics for the mining industry. Over subsequent years, products were added to serve a variety of industries in Canada and around the world. With growing volumes came plant expansion and the addition of new processing tools to compliment weaving operations. New yarns have been researched and fabric patterns designed to provide unique properties for a variety of demanding applications. Nylon has been woven and laminated to core polymers to form tough, durable hockey skate materials. Monofilament yarns with chemical resistance were woven into profiled cloth that gave enhanced performance filter media in corrosive and abrasive environments. High tenacity yarns have been designed into fabrics for soft and hard body-armour, military helmets and vehicle armor. Sailcloth fabric for the fastest ocean racers has come from our looms, as have products for many other fabric and resin composites. These efforts go hand in hand with investment in capital assets, which bring new capabilities to manufacturing. Barrday strives to raise the collective "IQ" of the company through training and R&D efforts. Our people are the Barrday competitive advantage and a sense of pride and responsibility is the foundation of all our actions.
