and history to high school students. He was nominated while teaching at
Glenview Park and now teaches at Bluevale Collegiate.
Kids inspire Josh. He loves seeing their progression of
learning. He loves seeing them growing in different ways from concepts and
intellect to music and athletics to leadership and valuing others around them.
He notes that high school is ever changing and that students need room to grow
and explore life. Josh particularly enjoys juniors. He wants to help them
grow, to follow them, to see them fail, succeed and take risks. He sees them as
individuals who are capable of succeeding and dives in and dialogues with them
about their lives, caring for them as individuals. Watching students develop
drives him to take risks as a teacher to provide unique opportunities and
experiences for his students. Josh is rewarded when a student who doubted that
they could do something, succeeds and surprises them self. He loves to see
students run with opportunities, to see them be creative and to succeed beyond
what they knew possible.
Karen, a colleague of Josh's wrote this:
Mr. Hill is an inspiration to students, the school and the
community. He is an outstanding teacher with a passion for his art. His
lessons are thoroughly and thoughtfully prepared, and his leadership outside the
classroom is extensive and generous. Some of the many accomplishments that Mr.
Hill has helped achieve this year alone are: administering the coveted "AID for
Africa" benefit concert and raising over $6,000, chairing the Glenview Music
Executive, directing the jazz band, junior band and percussion ensemble,
founding and administering "Glenstock", and coaching school sports teams. Mr.
Hill is a visionary and is a model for dedication and commitment to his
students. |
