Recipient’s Name: Carl Lisi
School: St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Elementary School
Grade: Grade 7
Number of Years Teaching: 8
Carl is inspired when he sees his students setting goals and achieving them. He enjoys building a community with his students and does this by spending lots of time with them both in class and in extracurricular activities. Building a community with his students helps him with classroom management. If the students know that he cares for them, Carl believes that they respect him and behave well.
An important message he wants his students to know is that he is always there for them. He works to strike a good balance around being a friend who is an adult. He really cares for them and will take time to connect with them. Carl loves to hear his students say, “Thanks for hanging out with us today.”
Three of Carl’s students nominated him. Alex, Briana and Tabitha wrote:
What sets apart a teacher who is extraordinary from all of the rest? An extraordinary teacher should have the following qualities: the serious, educational factor, but also the fun factor that makes us “look forward to” school each day. Carl Lisi is a teacher who displays these qualities day in and day out. Not only did he teach us educationally, he also shared with us his knowledge and wisdom about every day life that we as the future generation should use in the future.
Everything with Mr. Lisi was fun! He created fun games for us to help us get to know each other a little bit better. Most of us have known each other for the past 9 years. But we somehow all managed to become closer as a class. We all feel together as a family and we are all willing to always add another person to our family circle.
Mr. Lisi is always making sure we have fun and even gives us his lunch hours to spend time with us in the gym, such as soccer and ultimate Frisbee.
Mr. Lisi is an outstanding, hard-working and incredible teacher.
