Glenda has been teaching for seven years. This year she moved from Silverheights Public to Sandhills Public where she teaches junior grades.
Glenda is motivated to create teams and to watch her students grow as a group. In a team they learn how to work out community and differences. She also enjoys taking her students from Point A to Point B.
Glenda likes when her students question her and challenge ‘values’. She sees this as a great opportunity to converse with them and to let them see the value of education and learning.
“Truthfully”, Glenda said, “I love kids. Whenever I go anywhere I see with eyes that say “wouldn’t the kids just love that!?” They become like family to me.
A Silverheight’s parent nominated Glenda. Karen wrote:
Glenda is an enthusiastic, exceptional teacher. She single-handedly jumpstarted the Junior Athletic Program. For the first time in 9 years at Silverheights, the junior students have been able to participate in interschool sports. Truly she went above and beyond everything she did this year.
Glenda loves teaching and she loves children. She always comes to school with a beaming smile and something new to try. She tries to create new ways to engage children in learning and believes strongly in accepting children as they are. Glenda does not try to mold her students into what she wants them to be or how she wants them to behave. She alters her lesson plans and teaching style to accommodate her students.
Teaching is everything to her and it shows, and her students are the beneficiaries.
